The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. The OAG seeks an attorney to serve as an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) for the Maryland Department of Housing and Community (DHCD). This office is the primary legal advisor to DHCD; its bond issuing entity, the Community Development Administration (CDA); and its loan insurance arm, the Maryland Housing Fund (MHF). DHCD is the State’s Housing Finance Agency, and finances affordable single-family housing, multifamily housing, and government infrastructure projects with the proceeds of tax-exempt and taxable bonds, federal low-income housing tax credits, and State appropriated funds. DHCD also provides several programs and services that support its vision of giving all citizens the opportunity to live and prosper in affordable, desirable, and secure housing in thriving communities.
The AAG’s responsibilities will primarily include lending and real estate financing transactions for multifamily housing, with a variety of bond, federal, and State funding sources. The AAG is also responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating documents in connection with multifamily transactions and federal tax credit programs; advising DHCD on loan workout, asset management and loan insurance matters; and providing advice on bond, real estate and lending transactions.
