Lewisville, TX — A $32.8 million cash-and-credits settlement has been reached to resolve a proposed class action lawsuit against ParkMobile over a 2021 data breach, offering compensation to roughly 21 million users affected by the cyberattack. Impacted users can now file a claim form to receive their share of the settlement.
The official settlement website, ParkMobileSettlement.com, provides detailed information and a portal for submitting claims. The settlement, preliminarily approved by the court on November 5, 2024, covers all individuals who received notice from ParkMobile about the data breach. These individuals should have received an email notification regarding the settlement.
Users can file claims online by entering their notice ID and confirmation code, or by providing their first and last name along with their email address to retrieve their login information. Claims must be submitted by March 5, 2025.
The $32.8 million settlement fund includes a $9 million cash pool, with individual cash payouts capped at $25 per person. Users who do not submit a claim will automatically receive a $1 credit for use in the ParkMobile app, valid for one year. The total credit allocation is capped at $21 million.
Additionally, $2.5 million is allocated for business remedial measures implemented by ParkMobile, and $300,000 is designated for administration costs. The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for March 13, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed in the wake of the 2021 data breach, alleged that ParkMobile’s failure to implement basic cybersecurity measures led to the compromise of users’ personal information, including license plate numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, and vehicle nicknames.
