Moonlight Companies Recalls California Peaches Over Listeria Concerns

California fruit producer Moonlight Companies has issued a nationwide voluntary recall of its yellow and white peaches due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria that can lead to serious health issues.

The recall impacts conventional (non-organic) peaches sold from September 16 to October 29, 2025, at grocery stores throughout the United States. The peaches were sold individually with PLU stickers or in multi-pack containers. Peaches marked with the terms “Washington” or “Organic” are not included in this recall.

Moonlight Companies reported that the potential contamination was identified during routine monitoring. The company stressed that this recall is a precautionary measure and that no illnesses have been reported to date.

Listeria monocytogenes can lead to severe infections in young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems. While healthy people may only experience temporary symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea, stiffness, and diarrhea, infections can result in miscarriages or stillbirths in pregnant women.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled peaches are advised not to consume them and to dispose of the fruit immediately. Customers can reach out to their retailer for further information or updates.
