LANSING, Mich. — A Wyandotte man accused of embezzling more than $166,000 from his former employer has been bound over for trial in Wayne County Circuit Court, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.
Jason Garza, 45, waived his preliminary examination and will face trial on ten felony charges stemming from an alleged embezzlement scheme while working at Montway Auto Transport in Canton Township during 2021 and 2022.
Garza faces the following charges:
- One count of Embezzlement Over $100,000 (20-year felony)
- One count of Embezzlement Over $50,000 but Less Than $100,000 (15-year felony)
- One count of Embezzlement Over $1,000 but Less Than $20,000 (5-year felony)
- Three counts of Using a Computer to Commit a Crime
- Four counts of Failure to File Income Taxes (5-year felony each)
According to prosecutors, Garza allegedly offered customers unauthorized discounts in exchange for direct payments to him via peer-to-peer mobile apps. He then pocketed those payments instead of forwarding them to Montway Auto Transport.
“Employees who steal from businesses betray the trust of their employers and their colleagues,” said Attorney General Nessel. “My office remains committed to ensuring individuals who engage in embezzlement and fraud are held accountable.”
Garza was originally charged in June 2025. He is next scheduled to appear in Wayne County’s 3rd Circuit Court on October 21.
