Partnership unveiled at Google I/O 2026 showcases two premium designs built as smartphone companions
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Samsung Electronics and Google provided the first official look at their new intelligent eyewear during Google I/O 2026, revealing two premium styles created in partnership with fashion houses Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The device is scheduled to launch this fall in select markets.
Designed to function as a companion to a mobile phone, the intelligent eyewear allows users to access assistance primarily through voice interaction while maintaining a familiar glasses form factor. The hands-free, heads-up design enables seamless connectivity within the Galaxy ecosystem, allowing users to manage daily tasks and capture photos without needing to remove their phone from their pocket.
The device leverages Google’s Gemini AI to deliver real-time functionality. Users can access turn-by-turn navigation assistance by voice command, receive personalized suggestions such as nearby coffee shops along a walking route, and even place pickup orders directly through the glasses. The eyewear also provides summarized notifications for important texts and allows users to add events to their calendars.
Translation capabilities are a key feature, offering real-time language translation with audio that matches the speaker’s voice, as well as the ability to translate text on menus or signs directly within the user’s line of sight.
The collaboration brings distinct design identities to the hardware. Gentle Monster, known for its fashion-forward approach, contributes disruptive yet refined aesthetics to the collection, while Warby Parker delivers refined and timeless designs emphasizing precision optics and comfort. Both brands stressed the importance of merging advanced technology with personal expression.
“This intelligent eyewear marks an important step in Samsung’s vision for AI,” said Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “With this new AI form factor, we are further expanding the Galaxy device ecosystem, where each device is optimized to deliver unique AI experiences that best fit each form.”
Shahram Izadi, Vice President and GM of Android XR at Google, described the device as a significant milestone. “Intelligent eyewear represents a powerful step forward in our shared vision with Samsung to make AI more helpful and accessible in everyday life,” Izadi said. “Combining the best of Google’s AI and the Android ecosystem together with Samsung’s leadership in mobile hardware and Gentle Monster and Warby Parker’s premium design, we are helping users stay connected and fashionable in a more natural, hands-free way.”
The eyewear partners emphasized the personal nature of the product. Hankook Kim, Founder and CEO of Gentle Monster, stated that intelligent eyewear should feel as emotionally expressive as it is technologically advanced. Dave Gilboa, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Warby Parker, noted that integrating advanced technology into frames requires careful attention to detail to maintain intuitive design and exceptional comfort.
Additional details regarding the full collections and specific market availability are expected in the coming months. Samsung noted that all functionalities, features, specifications, and product information are subject to change without notice.
