Paramount+ has officially announced that Star Trek: Section 31, an original movie set in the Star Trek universe, will premiere on Friday, January 24, exclusively on the streaming service in the U.S. and international markets where Paramount+ is available. The announcement was made during the Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic Con, which was moderated by Vladimir Duthiers, host of CBS Mornings and CBS News national correspondent. The panel also featured a discussion with cast members Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Robert Kazinsky, and executive producer and director Olatunde Osunsanmi, as well as a special video appearance by Star Trek star Michelle Yeoh.
In Star Trek: Section 31, Michelle Yeoh reprises her beloved role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery. In this film, Georgiou joins a secret division of Starfleet, tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets while confronting the dark secrets of her past.
The movie also stars Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Emmy Award-winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Miku Martineau (Kate) portrays a young Philippa Georgiou.
Written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, Star Trek: Section 31 is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Craig Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Michelle Yeoh. The film is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
Star Trek: Section 31 will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international markets. The movie is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
