U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a 53-year-old Ecuadorian national in Bangor, Pennsylvania, who was wanted for rape in Ecuador. The arrest took place on January 3, when the individual was apprehended outside his residence.
The operation was a result of a collaborative effort between ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia and the U.S. Border Patrol’s El Centro Sector Intelligence Unit. The individual’s name has not been released due to privacy concerns related to the ongoing investigation.
“This arrest underscores the importance of our interagency cooperation and the relentless efforts of our officers to track and apprehend dangerous criminal noncitizens wherever they may be,” said Brian McShane, Acting Field Office Director for ERO Philadelphia. “Our work is essential in safeguarding national security and ensuring the safety of American communities.”
ERO is the division of ICE responsible for domestic immigration enforcement, which includes the removal of individuals who pose a threat to public safety. The agency is dedicated to protecting U.S. communities by arresting and removing individuals who undermine national security or violate immigration laws.
