Brooklyn, NY — Hofood99 Inc. has issued a nationwide recall of its 200g packages of Enoki Mushrooms over concerns they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a potentially dangerous bacterium that can cause serious illness, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
The recalled mushrooms, sold in green plastic packaging marked with UPC 6 976532 310051, were distributed in retail stores across the U.S. under no specific brand name. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
The contamination was detected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD) after testing a sample from a local store.
