October 9, 2025 — Sprouts Farmers Market has announced a recall of its Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad, which was available in stores across over 20 states, due to a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can lead to severe and sometimes deadly infections.
The recall, which was made public on October 8, pertains to pasta salad sold from August 31 to October 7, 2025, both in Grab & Go containers and at the deli service counter. The impacted product was distributed to Sprouts locations in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming.
Potential Health Risks
The recall was triggered after Fresh Creative Foods, the supplier for Sprouts, informed the company about potential contamination in the pasta ingredient sourced from Nate’s Fine Foods located in Roseville, California.
Currently, there have been no reported illnesses, but health officials caution that Listeria presents a significant risk to certain groups.
Listeria monocytogenes can lead to fever, intense headaches, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea in otherwise healthy individuals. Nevertheless, it poses a heightened danger for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems, as the infection can result in miscarriages, stillbirths, or severe health complications.
How to Identify the Recalled Product

The pasta salad comes packaged in clear plastic containers labeled under the Sprouts brand.
What Customers Should Do
Sprouts urges anyone who purchased the affected pasta salad to stop consuming it immediately. Customers can return the product to their local Sprouts store for a full refund or safely dispose of it. The FDA also recommends cleaning and sanitizing any surfaces, utensils, or containers that may have come in contact with the product to avoid cross-contamination.
For questions or more information, customers can reach Sprouts Customer Relations at sprouts.com/contact
or call 480-814-8016 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MST).
Background
The recall is taking place as there is heightened awareness regarding foodborne illnesses in ready-to-eat items. Although Listeria outbreaks are uncommon, they raise significant alarm because the bacteria can endure refrigeration and taint food long after it has been packaged.
Sprouts has stated that it is fully collaborating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and its suppliers to guarantee that all impacted products are taken off the shelves.
