Washington, D.C., USA- January 13, 2020: FDA Sign at its headquarters in Washington DC. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or USFDA) is a federal agency of the USA.

Chetak LLC Group has announced a voluntary nationwide recall of its 16 oz. Deep Sprouted Mat (Moth) and Deep Sprouted Moong products due to a possible contamination with Salmonella, a harmful bacterium that can lead to severe health problems.

The affected products were distributed throughout the U.S. via retail outlets under various regional branches of Chetak LLC, including stores in New Jersey, California, Illinois, Florida, and Texas. Specifically, the recall affects products with the following lot codes printed on the back of the bags:
24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, 25171, 24297, 25058, 25078, 24291, 25107, 24354, and 24292.
Health Risks and Symptoms
Salmonella infection can result in serious gastrointestinal issues. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort. While most healthy people recover without medical intervention, the infection can be particularly dangerous or even deadly for young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems. In rare instances, it may enter the bloodstream, causing complications like arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis.

The potential contamination was identified during standard FDA testing. Although no illnesses have been reported so far, Chetak has temporarily suspended production of the affected products while collaborating with the FDA to trace the source of the contamination. Consumers who have bought the impacted 16 oz. packets are strongly advised to cease using the product and return it to the retailer for a full refund.
