Providence, R.I. — A Coventry man has been sentenced to life in state prison for multiple counts of child molestation following his conviction earlier this year, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced Monday.

David Ouellette, 66, was sentenced on November 21 in Providence County Superior Court by Justice Brian Van Couyghen to life imprisonment, followed by an additional 30-year consecutive sentence, with 20 years to serve. The court also imposed several long-term restrictions, including a no-contact order with the victim, mandatory sex offender registration, required counseling, and ongoing community supervision.

Ouellette was found guilty on September 12, 2025, after a five-day trial, during which a jury convicted him of seven counts of first-degree child molestation. Prosecutors proved that Ouellette repeatedly assaulted a juvenile girl known to him between 1998 and 2002.

Attorney General Neronha praised the survivor for her strength throughout the case.

“This victim demonstrated incredible bravery in telling her story, which allowed us to achieve justice on her behalf,” Neronha said. “When victims feel safe in coming forward, perpetrators are held accountable, our communities become safer, and victims themselves can heal.”

Coventry Police Chief Benjamin H. Witt also commended the victim and investigators.

“I want to thank the young victim in this case for exhibiting great courage throughout the investigation and prosecution,” Witt said. “I also thank the members of the Coventry Police Department and the Office of the Attorney General who worked hard to ensure the defendant was held accountable.”
