September 20, 2025 — A widely recognized poke product available at Costco has been recalled in numerous states due to concerns about possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria that can lead to significant health issues.
Western United Fish Company, doing business as Annasea Foods Group, has announced a voluntary recall of 3,314.7 pounds of Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke after green onions used in the recipe tested positive for Listeria. This recall impacts products that have a pack date of September 18, 2025, and a sell-by date of September 22, 2025.

The affected item — sold in clear plastic clamshell containers — was available in Costco deli sections across a broad list of states, including:
- West Coast: Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska
- East Coast: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida
- Midwest & South: Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Missouri, Colorado
- And more, totaling over 30 states
No Illnesses Reported Yet
As of today, no illnesses have been linked to the recalled product. However, Listeria monocytogenes can be especially harmful to young children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include high fever, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and in severe cases, life-threatening infections or pregnancy complications.
How the Recall Happened
According to the company, the recall was triggered after a routine test by their green onion supplier returned a positive result for Listeria on a batch used exclusively in the poke product made on September 17, 2025.
Western United Fish Company stated it is actively investigating the issue with the supplier to determine the root cause of the contamination.
What You Should Do
Consumers are urged not to eat the affected product. Instead, they should dispose of it immediately and return to Costco for a full refund.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is aware of the recall and continues to monitor the situation.
Check your fridge: If you purchased Kirkland Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke from Costco recently, look for the pack date of 9/18/2025 and sell-by date of 9/22/2025. When in doubt, throw it out.
