July 19, 2025 — Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has announced a nationwide recall of its iGo2 DV6X-619 DC car adapter, following reports that the power cord could overheat or even melt while in use, which may lead to thermal injuries or burns.
This recall impacts devices that were distributed from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, and has been designated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Class I recall—the most severe classification—because of the potential for serious injury or death.

The car adapter is an accessory that, while not critical, enables the iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator to function using a DC power source, like a vehicle’s charging port. Although it is not vital for medical operations, a failure in this component could result in hazardous overheating.
Why the Recall?
The recall was launched following user complaints that the DC car charger became excessively hot and, in certain instances, even melted while connected. Drive DeVilbiss has received two reports of injuries involving burns to hands and fingers. While there have been no deaths, the company cautions about the risk of severe injury if the faulty cords are not discontinued.
How to Identify Affected Units
Users should check their car adapter by unscrewing the metal cap:
- Recalled Version: If an internal spring is located directly under the cap, the adapter is part of the recall.
- Safe Version: If a fuse is located under the cap instead, the unit is not affected.
- Affected car charger cords are labeled with model DV6X-619 Rev E and were manufactured between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024.
What You Should Do
Customers and distributors are advised to:
- Inspect the adapter using the method above.
- Destroy recalled cords by cutting the wire or unscrewing and discarding the cap and internal parts.
- Order replacements through the official recall website at: www.recallrtr.com/iGo2DME using a verification code provided in recall notices.
- Notify all users who may have purchased or rented the affected units.
- If necessary, the iGo2 unit can still be used without the car charger, as it also functions on AC power or battery.
