Crystal Lagoons Brings Beach Life to South Carolina
Columbia, South Carolina, may be hundreds of miles from the coast, but thanks to Crystal Lagoons, the city is about to experience its own slice of beach paradise. The multinational company has signed its first project in the state, introducing a 4.8-acre crystalline lagoon surrounded by white sandy beaches and luxurious amenities.
The development is to be named ‘Oak Hills’, becoming a major attraction in Columbia, offering both private and public access areas. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the pristine lagoon and beach in a new hybrid complex that blends luxury living with recreational spaces for the public. The project will include a luxury hotel, residential areas, and a ticketed public-access section featuring extensive commercial, entertainment, and sports infrastructure. This will include terraces, restaurants, parks, a wedding peninsula, children’s areas, and more.
Crystal Lagoons, known for its groundbreaking technology that transforms landlocked areas into tropical beach destinations, is expanding rapidly in the United States. The country is now the company’s primary market, with more than 275 projects in various stages of development and negotiation across the country.
“We’re excited to create a destination that will not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also become a focal point for the entire region,” said Joseph Baldassarra, president of Broadstreet, one of the developers behind the Oak Hills project. Broadstreet has teamed up with Contender Development and Blue Lagoon Development LLC to bring the Crystal Lagoons technology to life in South Carolina.
The ‘Oak Hills’ project is part of a larger agreement to develop four such complexes in the state, each featuring Crystal Lagoons’ signature crystalline lagoons. The project will include features of the company’s innovative Public Access Lagoons (PAL) model, which allows the general public to enjoy the lagoon for a fee, while also offering private areas for residents and hotel guests.
“We are confident that this complex will be a success,” said Ivan Manzur, Senior VP of Sales for Crystal Lagoons US Corp. “PAL developments and Crystal Lagoons technology have become very attractive projects worldwide, and we’re bringing that experience to South Carolina.” This recreational offerings is set to provide event venues in an unparalleled natural setting, making them ideal for weddings, corporate retreats, and other gatherings.
