Washington, D.C. — Firehook of Virginia has issued a voluntary recall for a specific lot of its Classic Sea Salt Organic Crackers due to the presence of undeclared sesame, a potentially dangerous allergen for sensitive individuals.
The recall applies to 8-ounce packages of Firehook Classic Sea Salt Crackers bearing a Best By date of September 29, 2025, and a UPC code of 8 99055 00063 5. The affected crackers were distributed to retail stores across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
The company reported that the problem was identified on May 30, when it was discovered that the crackers had been packaged without the necessary labeling to indicate the presence of sesame. Firehook traced the error back to a temporary disruption in production and packaging, which resulted in the application of incorrect labels on the affected items.
No cases of illness or allergic reactions have been linked to the mislabeled crackers. Nevertheless, consumers who have sesame allergies or sensitivities are strongly advised against consuming the product, as it may cause serious or even life-threatening allergic reactions.
Customers who have bought the recalled crackers should return them to the store of purchase for a complete refund. For further details, consumers can reach out to Firehook at 1-888-580-0745, available Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST.
The FDA is assisting with the recall announcement as part of its public safety mission but does not endorse the product or company.
