Fish Allergy Warning: Azuma Foods Recalls Tako Wasabi Over Undeclared Bonito Extract
HAYWARD, Calif. – June 12, 2026 – Azuma Foods International Inc. has issued a recall of its Tako Wasabi seasoned octopus product after discovering that a recipe change introduced undeclared fish, posing a serious health risk to consumers with fish allergies.
The voluntary recall, announced by the FDA on Friday, affects 545 cases of the Azuma Foods brand “Tako Wasabi – Seasoned Octopus with Wasabi,” sold in 3-pack retail sleeves with a net weight of 5.3 ounces (150g). The product was distributed across eight states—California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Washington—through various retail stores between mid-August 2025 and May 2026.
The company initiated the recall after it was discovered that a mollusk extract traditionally used in the product had been replaced with bonito extract—a fish-derived ingredient—without Azuma Foods’ knowledge or consent. The manufacturer failed to notify the company of the recipe change, leaving the fish allergen undeclared on product labels.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish and consume the affected product run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. To date, no allergic reactions have been reported in connection with this recall.

Amazon-Exclusive Nasal Spray Recalled Nationwide Over Mold Contamination Risk
COVINA, Calif. – June 11, 2026 – Beekeeper’s Naturals has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of its Saline Nasal Spray after laboratory testing revealed microbial contamination, including yeast and Aspergillus spp., a mold that can cause life-threatening infections in vulnerable populations.
The recall affects Lot #5950 with an expiration date of 02/2028, which was sold exclusively through Amazon. According to the company, 585 units of the affected lot were sold between April 2 and April 24, 2026.
The product, used as a sinus congestion rinse, is packaged in a single-unit 1 FL OZ. (30 mL) bottle. The lot number and expiration date can be found on the bottom or back label.
Beekeeper’s Naturals stated that the contaminated lot was produced at a third-party manufacturer and tested above the company’s acceptable microbiological limits for yeast. The company disclosed that due to a clerical error, the lot was mistakenly shipped to Amazon before testing results became available.
For individuals with weakened immune systems or lung diseases, the company warned that exposure to Aspergillus spp. through the nasal spray carries a reasonable probability of causing serious and life-threatening infections, including invasive sinusitis and lung infections.
To date, Beekeeper’s Naturals has received four reports from customers regarding adverse reactions potentially linked to the recalled product, including sinus congestion, irritation, or infection. No severe outcomes have been reported.
The company has already coordinated with Amazon to directly notify all purchasers of the affected lot. Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to check the lot number on the label. If it reads Lot 5950 with a Best By date of 02/2028, they should discontinue use immediately.
Customers may contact Beekeeper’s Naturals at contact@beekeepersnaturals.com or 1-888-759-6910, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM ET, for a refund or with any questions. Those who have experienced health issues related to the product should consult their physician or healthcare provider.
Adverse reactions can also be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online, by mail, or by fax.
No other Beekeeper’s Naturals products, including the Nasal Spray Max, are impacted by this recall. The company stated it has taken immediate corrective action to identify and resolve the source of the contamination.
The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
