NEW YORK — Superfoods, Inc., doing business as Live it Up, has recalled all Live it Up-brand Super Greens dietary supplement powders after being linked to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium, federal health officials announced.
The recall, issued January 15, 2026, affects both the original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates from August 2026 through January 2028, including stick pack products and larger 8.5-ounce containers. The affected products were sold primarily online through the Live it Up website, Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and other retailers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), working with state and local partners, have reported 45 cases of infection across 21 states. The illnesses began between August 22, 2025, and December 30, 2025. Of the 20 patients with available information, 16 reported consuming Live it Up Super Greens before falling ill. There have been 12 hospitalizations and no reported deaths.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically appear 12 to 72 hours after exposure and include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Children under five, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at greater risk for severe complications.
Consumers and retailers are urged not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled products. FDA officials recommend discarding the supplements or returning them for a refund and thoroughly cleaning any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the products to prevent cross-contamination. Individuals who develop symptoms should contact a healthcare provider.
The FDA is continuing a traceback investigation to determine the source of contamination and is working with state partners to sample products of concern. Additional products may be added to the recall as the investigation progresses.
