RALEIGH, N.C. — Spring & Mulberry has broadened its voluntary recall of certain chocolate bars following routine testing that revealed potential Salmonella contamination, as announced by the company on Wednesday.
The recall, which was first issued on January 12 for the Mint Leaf flavor, now encompasses additional flavors produced on the same equipment since September 15, 2025. These products were available for purchase online and through selected retail partners across the nation. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella is a bacterium that can lead to severe infections, especially in young children, elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, while rare instances can lead to more serious complications, including bloodstream infections, endocarditis, and arthritis. Health officials strongly advise anyone who experiences symptoms after consuming the chocolate bars to seek prompt medical attention.
The recall pertains to chocolate bars branded as Spring & Mulberry, with affected products identifiable by their flavor name, lot code, and box color. The lot code can be found on the back of the packaging and the inner flow wrap. Spring & Mulberry indicated that the potential contamination was initially discovered during routine third-party testing conducted by the company’s contract manufacturer.

Customers who purchased the affected chocolate bars are advised not to consume them and to dispose of the products immediately. Refunds or replacements are available by emailing recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the lot code.
