This organism can lead to severe and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
While healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, and abdominal pain, Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
