Prolon Almond & Cocoa Spread Recalled After Undeclared Tree Nuts Trigger Allergic Reaction
CULVER CITY, Calif. — L-Nutra is recalling its Prolon brand Apulian Almond & Cocoa Spread because it contains undeclared cashew, pistachio and hazelnut, the company announced Aug. 17, 2026. The FDA published the recall notice the same day.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashew, pistachio and/or hazelnut run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. To date, L-Nutra has documented one confirmed allergic reaction associated with the product.
The product was distributed via L-Nutra’s e-commerce site, ProlonLife.com, either as a direct purchase or included in certain Prolon product bundles.
The recalled product is Prolon brand Apulian Almond & Cocoa Spread, packaged in 8.47-ounce (240-gram) glass jars with UPC 850040360530. The recalled lot is L2755, and the expiration date is Jan. 2, 2027, which can be found on the jar cap directly beneath the expiration date.
The recall was initiated after testing confirmed the presence of undeclared tree nut allergens in product that did not disclose these ingredients on its label. The cause is still under investigation, according to the company.
At this time, Lot L2755 is the only lot known to be affected. Consumers who have the recalled product should stop consuming it immediately and discard it or complete the company’s short recall response form at www.l-nutra.com/recall to arrange a return.
Salmonella Risk Prompts Recall of Jalapeños Sold at Two Texas Costco Stores
HOUSTON — Dairyland Produce LLC, doing business as Hardie’s Fresh Foods, is recalling 5-pound packages of Pepper Jalapeño because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, the company announced Aug. 12, 2026. The FDA published the recall notice Aug. 17, 2026.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the company. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea — which may be bloody — nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, including infected aneurysms, endocarditis and arthritis.
The jalapeños were distributed to the following Costco locations:
- Store #1487 at 12717 Network Drive, Stafford, TX
- Store #0655 at 8282 Park Lane, Dallas, TX
The affected jalapeños are packaged in clear plastic bags. The lot codes being recalled are X2741775, X2741859, X2744163, X2744706, X2746349, X2746490 and X2748743. Production dates are 26192 (07/11/26), 26196 (07/15/26), 26197 (07/16/26), 26199 (07/18/26) and 26203 (07/22/26).
The jalapeños were repacked by Hardie’s Fresh Foods, which said it has ceased production and distribution of the product. Consumers who have purchased these jalapeños are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Metal Fragments Found in Bread: Grand Central Bakery Recalls Potato Sourdough Across Seattle and Tacoma
SEATTLE — Grand Central Bakery is recalling loaves of Potato Sourdough bread due to the potential presence of pieces of metal, the company announced Aug. 13, 2026. The FDA published an updated recall notice Aug. 19, 2026.
The recall covers products sold at grocery stores, select restaurants, wholesalers and four Grand Central Bakery café locations within the Seattle and Tacoma metro areas in Washington on Aug. 10, 2026.
The affected Grand Central Bakery café locations are Burien, Eastlake, Wallingford and Wedgewood.
Grocery stores in the Seattle and Tacoma area that carried the recalled product include Central Co-op, Fred Meyer Stores, Hilltop Red Apple, Ken’s Markets, Marketime Foods, PCC Markets, QFC Stores, Town & Country Market, Thriftway Stores, Whole Foods Markets, Yakima Fruit Markets and Metropolitan Markets, which was added in the updated notice.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the problem, according to the company. The incident was related to a single batch of dough. The recall was initiated after a pallet nail was discovered in a loaf of Potato Sourdough Bread.

Allergy Alert: Bronx Bakery Recalls Breads Over Undeclared Milk and Sesame
NEW YORK — Prince Bakery Inc. is recalling several varieties of its Prince brand breads because they may contain undeclared sesame or milk, the company announced Aug. 19, 2026. The FDA published the recall notice the same day.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame or milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled products are Prince brand Sesame Italian Bread, Large Italian Bread, Large Sesame French Bread, Long Sesame French Bread and Pan de Manteca Spanish Style Bread. The breads were distributed in bodegas and small retail markets around the Bronx and Westchester, New York.
The breads are packaged in white bags with blue, green and red lettering and images. Each item has a shelf life of 3 to 5 days but may be frozen.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered during a routine FDA inspection that the Spanish Style bread, which includes whey milk in its ingredients, was distributed in packaging that did not include milk in the “Contains” statement. Additionally, the Italian Bread and Large Italian & French Bread did not include the allergen sesame in the ingredients or “Contains” statement.
A subsequent investigation indicated the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes, according to the announcement. Consumers who have purchased the recalled breads are urged to discard the product.
Alfalfa Sprout Recall Expands After 55 Illnesses Reported From E. Coli and Salmonella Contamination
MINNEAPOLIS — Everything Sprouts, LLC is recalling certain lots of its alfalfa sprouts and expanding that recall to include certain lots of its Robust Radish Sprout Mix because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli or Salmonella bacteria, the company announced Aug. 22, 2026. The FDA published the recall notice the same day.
To date, 55 reports of illnesses have been received by federal and state partners related to alfalfa sprouts. No reports of illness have been received related to the Robust Radish Sprout Mix.
Shiga toxin-producing E. coli are organisms that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. E. coli O26:H11, E. coli O103:H25 and E. coli O168:H8 are three members of this group. STECs cause an acute diarrheal illness — often bloody diarrhea — within a few days of ingesting the bacteria. Most people recover within a week. However, a subset of infected individuals, especially children under 5, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals, may develop hemolytic uremic syndrome, a severe illness characterized by hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and renal failure. HUS can lead to death.
The most common illness caused by nontyphoidal Salmonella infection is gastroenteritis, resulting in nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps, typically beginning 6 to 72 hours after ingestion of contaminated food or water. Salmonella gastroenteritis is usually self-limited in healthy individuals. Patients at risk for more severe illness include neonates, infants, adults over 65, and patients with impaired immunity or those undergoing immunosuppressing treatments. In rare circumstances, infection can result in the organism entering the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, including infected aneurysms, endocarditis and septic arthritis.
The alfalfa sprouts were distributed by Everything Sprouts from May 27, 2026, to Aug. 21, 2026, to wholesale distributors and grocery stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The recalled Everything Sprouts and Calco branded alfalfa sprouts are packaged in individual 5-ounce plastic containers bearing the bar codes 860014523113, 860014523120 and 850079470149.
The affected alfalfa sprout products include Alfalfa 6/5oz and Alfalfa 12/6/5oz packages with lot numbers 222, 223, 225, 226 and 230. The same alfalfa sprouts were also used in Everything Sprouts Crunchy Protein Sprout Mix 5-ounce cups, lot numbers 222, 223, 226 and 230, and Zesty Garlic Mix cups, lot numbers 222, 223, 225, 226 and 230.
The expanded recall covers the Robust Radish Sprout Mix, which was distributed by Everything Sprouts from Aug. 13, 2026, to Aug. 26, 2026, to wholesale distributors and grocery stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The affected product is Robust Radish Mix 5-ounce cups with barcode 087906000075 and lot numbers 223, 226, 230 and 233.
Consumers who believe they may have received affected lots of either product should immediately dispose of them and carefully clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers the product may have touched.
Retailers and distributors who believe they have received affected lots should immediately stop selling and distributing the products in inventory and dispose of them according to local protocols. They should also carefully clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers the product may have touched.
