(Source : Tech Crunch)YouTube is expanding its AI-driven music creation tools with a new feature that allows select creators to remix songs by simply describing how they want to alter the track’s style. This update builds on the platform’s Dream Track toolset, which debuted last year and lets creators generate AI-generated songs using the vocals of popular artists such as Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, and John Legend.
With the new “Restyle a track” feature, creators can select a song and input their vision for the remix—whether that’s changing the genre or adjusting the mood. The tool then produces a 30-second snippet that can be used in YouTube Shorts, offering a quick and easy way to create personalized content.
YouTube explained that while the remixed tracks will be modified, the essence of the original song’s vocals and lyrics will remain intact. The platform will also ensure that the original artist is credited, with proper labeling to indicate AI modifications.
The update comes as part of YouTube’s broader effort to integrate AI into music creation, powered by the Lyria music generation model developed by DeepMind. YouTube is working to address potential concerns from the music industry by partnering with Universal Music Group (UMG) to ensure artists and rights holders are compensated for the use of their work in AI-generated content.
YouTube is not alone in the remix trend—Gaurav Sharma, a former JioSaavn executive, is also developing an app called Hook that allows users to remix songs for short video content.
